Shopping in NYC

Hi all!

We just got back from a fun trip to NYC to visit family and celebrate Jacob's birthday.  We haven't been to the city for a few years and it was M's first time, which was really fun!  Jacob and I used to live in NJ and would take the train into the city to stay with his dad and step mom a lot so we really miss it!

Here are a few fun finds I wanted to share:

Macy's Pantone Mugs
I love these and they would be such a great gift for an art teacher or designer

If you are in the city and want to pick up some delicious produce, cheese, wine, jam, etc. I highly recommend checking it out.  They also have a restaurant and if nothing else it is fun to just walk around

Coral Serving Pieces-Eataly

My favorite store in all of New York is Fishs Eddy.  They sell all manor of glassware, utensils, linens, and other odds and ends and is very reasonably priced.  We came home with wine glasses, coffee mugs, and a sweet little strainer.

I love this wine and cheese serving platter

My second favorite store is ABC Carpet, which is right across the street from Fishs Eddy.  It is a bit pricier and half the time I just go to look anyway.  They sell home furnishings, furniture, baby items, kitchenware, and beautiful jewelry.  It really is a great place to find a unique gift!

This is by no means a comprehensive list....just a few of my favorites that I happened to take pictures of!  Maybe I'll compile a list of my favorite NYC places to hit including restaurants.

Have a great day!

Butler's Pantry

Good morning!

We have a butler's pantry you can see it here and I'm so thankful to have it.  I store all of our kitchen appliances when they aren't in use, our china, table linens, and other odds and ends there.  I love having a designated area for those kitchen items that you don't need on a daily basis.  However, I have to admit I have serious pantry envy when I came across this picture.

I love the built in wine storage and something about the up turned silver tray is so perfect!

Have a good day!

Inspiring Bloggers: Emily A. Clark

Hi all!

I haven't done an inspiring blogger in a long time so I figured why not start it back up again.  My favorite blog lately is Emily A. Clark, she is an amazing designer (on hiatus) that just had twins and yet she is still blogging.  I think I was in a sleep deprived coma for months after having just one baby a year ago!  Oh and did I mention she has 3 other children as well?  She shows life as it is and it's so fun and inspiring to watch her personalize her home to make it her own.

Here are a few projects I'm loving:

Head over and check her out!

Before and After

Hi all!

Sorry for the radio silence the last few days.  I actually spent the last week in Ohio visiting family.  To tell you the truth it was nice to unplug for a bit!  I came across this on Pinterest and I had to share it.  Seriously.....amazing!!

I promise I'll be around more this week!

Hi all!

I had to share this lovely idea for memory keeping.  I need to make a few of these!

A few shadow box frames and some basic crafting supplies are all you would need.

I know food isn't something I talk a lot about on the blog but that is one great thing about Pinterest for me.  Not only do I find a lot of decor inspiration but I have found and made several great recipes.  Here are a few I have on my list to make soon!

Baby Shoes!

Seriously....what is cuter than baby shoes?  Ok, maybe baby feet...

Maddie's favorite shoe brand is on sale and I wanted to share because some are close to half off.

I didn't forget about the boys!

Cute, right?  They're on Zulily until Monday so go quickly!

Have a great weekend!

Mixing Dining Room Chairs

Good morning!

As I mentioned in the post yesterday I'm toying with the idea of putting 2 upholstered chairs at the head of the table in the dining room.  However, I have yet to find the perfect chair.  I love one I found at World Market but it doesn't come in white and I really really wish it did.  I also found a few blue ones for sale and I'm toying with the idea of them but I have to admit they aren't too comfortable.

So, while I'm out hunting for the perfect chairs I thought I would share some images of mixed dining room chairs.

How do you feel about it?  Like it?  Love it?  Hate it?

Dining Room

Hi all!

I planned this post last week to show you what my in laws got me for my birthday.  Since then we finally bought a dining room table so now I have 2 things to show you!  We have been in the market for a year and a half for a dining room set but like most things in my life I had something in my head that I couldn't find and/or simply couldn't afford.  I had been browsing Craigslist as well as shopping in stores.  After months of searching Craigslist for something dark with a farmhouse leg that seats 6 at its smallest and at least 8 at it's largest I found this Paula Deen set for 1/4 of the price of it new.  Oh, and it's 2 years old, in excellent condition, and it can extend to seat 10.......YES PLEASE!

It was worth driving 2 cars almost an hour 1 way to pick up and the best part is, Jacob loves it too!  While I wouldn't have picked the ladder back style of chairs I appreciate the fact they are a modern twist on the country style.

We will probably purchase 2 upholstered chairs to sit at the head and get rid of the fugly wine rack.

Here is what I planned to show you all along....my new buffet decor.  I love the large vase and pops of white and how it balances out the huge mirror (free on Craigslist and may rival the table for my best find ever)!

The horses head is a nod to Kentucky (I think it's a law you have to have at least one horse in your house if you live here), the pitcher is functional and pretty as decor, and the silver tray is just the right size and I love the shiny touch it adds.

I'm definitely on the right track but I don't love the balls, nor the blue candle holder with corks.
As with most everything in our home, it's a work in progress!

What's your best Craigslist find?
